The following is a list of commonly asked questions about the DeltaHook Rapid Hitch System: Q: Is the DeltaHook a 2 piece system? A: Yes, the DeltaHook Rapid Hitch consist of a Control Plate that is mounted to the tractor and a Receiver Plate that is mounted to each implement. Their design allows them to self align and engage quickly and safely every time.
Q: Are the plates hard to install? A: The plates are heavy! We recommend that 2 people install the plates for this reason alone. Otherwise, the plates will attach to your equipment very quickly and easily. For the Control Plate you will need to attach the release lever and install the drawbar pins. Once that is done it takes about 30 seconds to attach it to your tractor. On the Receiver Plate depending on whether you have a Cat 1 or Cat 2 you will slide or bolt on your lower brackets and attach the top link tube then hang it on your implement. It may take a few minutes to get the vertical orientation correct but once you do there is no further adjustment necessary. Ever!
Q: How much does the DeltaHook weigh? A: The Category 1 Control Plate weighs 60lbs. Category 1 Receiver Plate weighs 90lbs. The Category 2 Control Plate weighs 80lbs. Category 2 Receiver Plate weighs 120lbs.
Q: Is the hardware I will need to mount the DeltaHook included? A: Yes, each plate comes with the toplink pins, drawbar pins, lynch pins, and bolts you will need to mount them to your equipment. Since the DeltaHook is sized specifically for Cat 1 or Cat 2 applications if you are sizing-up or sizing-down you will need to supply the required bushings to do so.
Q: Which size DeltaHook do I need? A: Our Category 1 Control Plate fits 20hp to 60hp tractors with 7/8" lift arm pins and a 3/4" top link pin. The Category 1 Receiver Plate is designed to fit implements based around the 26" lift arm spacing which is the industry standard for Category 1. The Category 2 Control Plate is designed to fit 50hp to 120hp tractors with 1-1/8" lift arm pins and a 1" top link pin. The Category 2 Receiver Plate is designed to fit implements based around the 32" lift arm spacing which is the industry standard for Cat 2.
Q: My implements aren't exactly 26" (Cat 1) or exactly 32" (Cat 2). Is there any adjustment built into the DeltaHook. A: Yes, both the Cat 1 and Cat 2 Receivers are designed with plenty of width and height adjustment built in. If you want to double check to be sure which size best fits just give us a call.
Q: Will a Category 1 plate mate up with a Category 2 plate? A: No. Even though there is considerable adjustment built into the mounting brackets, the plates themselves are designed to fit together very tightly and do not allow interchangeability.
Q: Does it interfere with my PTO? A: No. The cutout in the plates allows the PTO to operate freely.
Q: Are there any implements that the DeltaHook will not work with? A: Over the years we have ran into very few implements that the DeltaHook will not fit. Of course, our hitch will not work with a Post Hole Digger. We have ran into some spreaders that, due to their operating mechanism, would not allow a receiver to mount without slight modification.
Q: How does the DeltaHook ship? A: We ship via FedEx and Con-Way Motor Freight. If you need 1 or 2 pieces of Category 1 DeltaHook it is most economical to ship via FedEx. More than 2 pieces of Cat 1 or if you need Cat 2 pieces it is best to ship Con-Way Freight.
